How to: DIY Kotatsu

Have you ever heard of a kotatsu? The heated table is a treat in the winter and here I lay out how to build one for your home.

These days, five years ago, I ventured on my first trip to Japan. Looking back, it was one of the best travels I did so far and I am looking forward to plan my next trip to Japan at the end of the year.

In this post I will talk about the 17th edition of the Japanese film festival Nippon Connection I attended in the last week of May 2017. This year marked my second visit to the festival after my first one in 2015.

In autumn of last year I challenged myself with the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test, just known under its abbreviation JLPT. Two months later I heard back and I received the result and I passed!

Three films from or about Japan are coming in Swiss cinemas at the beginning of the new year. I have seen two of them already and would like to briefly introduce all of them.

In the first June weekend I visited the 15th Nippon Connection in Frankfurt. It is a Japanese film festival with very diverse films and a lot of supporting program. In total, I watched three movies, of which was one an anime. Find the trailer and synopsis as well as my impressions below.

Just a quick reminder, the annual Snow Festival is currently taking place in Sapporo. Unfortunately, I could not make it, but a friend of mine is there right now. Follow her blog and have a look at the amazing snow sculptures which are exhibited in the Odori Park.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Great Hanshin Earthquake which devastated Kobe and the surrounding region. Fortunately, many people helped the region to recover.

The end of the year is nearing and everyone is already starting to think about Christmas presents and the next year. So how about a personalised photo calendar? I’ve got you covered.

There are many reasons why one would find his or her way to the country of the rising sun. Just as everyone experiences the country from his or her very unique perspective there are people who try to share their very own with the world. I am talking about video bloggers. Today I want to showcase a few videos.

Last weekend I attended the home warming party of my good friend Rayun who also lives in Zürich City now. There I had the chance to meet the organizer of a Japanese film event held next month. Let me tell you something about it.
