Have you ever heard about Yabusame? It is a traditional archery performed at shinto shrines. The riders shoot arrows to the side while riding on a horse. Needless to say it requires a high amount of skill because the horses gallop at full speed. There are multiple such events in Japan, and I went to see the yabusame at Omi Shrine near Kyoto.

The shrine also is famous for competitive karuta. The Master and Queen matches are carried out here.

The archers ride along an about 200 meter long track and shoot at three targets. I stood near the third target.
