From Nagano I visited two well-known destinations in the prefecture. In the morning I went to see the adorable Snow Monkeys bath in a hot spring and in the afternoon I explored Matsumoto Castle, part of the World Heritage.
This Sunday we left Kusatsu and I followed the Hokuriku line to Nagano. The former Olympic town in the mountains is famous for its soba noodles and a historic temple.
It’s half time of my trip. Spending a night in the Onsen town Kusatsu in Gunma prefecture I had a relaxing stay with friends from Tokyo. The water from the natural hot spring is used in many ways here besides for bathing.
The last two days we were skiing in the biggest resort of Niseko and I eventually left Hokkaido via Sapporo.
Happy New Year! The first three days in Tokyo were great and with the start of the new year it is time to do something very different. In the last two days I flew to Hokkaido and went skiing in
The last day of the year I visited the Comiket again and did more shopping in the evening. Finally, we welcomed the new year at midnight in Shibuya.
On day two I visited the Comiket for the first time, saw a firework display and enjoyed some ‘B-class’ cuisine.
An eventful first day in Japan has concluded. I went for shopping in Shibuya after a long flight and had a great dinner party with friends.
In less than one week I will be sitting in a plane heading to Tokyo. For the fourth time I set off to a journey to explore this country full of tradition, technology and culinary experiences.
